Day Two: Strength in Waiting
Day 2 – Strength in Waiting
Scripture (KJV):
Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”
Devotion:
Waiting is one of the hardest disciplines of faith. We live in a world that celebrates speed, instant answers, and immediate results. Yet God often works most deeply in the seasons where nothing seems to be moving. Through the prophet Isaiah, God gives this promise: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…” Waiting is not weakness. It is trust stretched over time.
So often we become depleted because we try to carry life in our own strength. We push harder, strive longer, and attempt to control outcomes we were never meant to manage alone. But waiting on God shifts the weight from our shoulders to His. It reminds us that we are sustained not by our ability, but by His faithfulness.
The beautiful truth of Isaiah 40:31 is that God does not merely help the weary survive—He renews them. Renewal means fresh strength for tired hearts, fresh hope for discouraged minds, and fresh courage for uncertain days. God meets us in the waiting place and restores what exhaustion has stolen.
Perhaps today you feel emotionally drained, spiritually dry, or physically worn down. Instead of fighting the waiting season, allow it to become a place of dependence. Sit quietly before God. Release your fears, your timelines, and your need to have all the answers. Trust that while you wait, God is still working.
One of the greatest ways to live out this truth is through patience with others. The grace God extends to us in our waiting should become the grace we offer to those around us. Slow down today. Listen longer. Respond more gently
Prayer:
“Renew my strength as I wait.”
Serving Focus:
Be patient with someone today.
Reflection:
Where do I feel depleted?
