Day 5- Hunger
Day 5 – Hunger
Scripture: Matthew 5:6
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
Devotion:
There is a difference between curiosity about God and true spiritual hunger. Hunger is deeper. It is the ache of the soul that recognizes nothing in this world can fully satisfy the human heart apart from God. Jesus reminds us that the ones who are filled are not the self-sufficient, but the spiritually hungry. Before God fills a life with power, peace, wisdom, or renewal, He often awakens a deeper desire within us for Him.
Too often we hunger for success, comfort, recognition, or control while neglecting the condition of our spirit. Yet spiritual awakening begins when we honestly admit our need for God’s presence more than anything else. Hunger creates space for God to move.
Today, intentionally set aside something that normally consumes your attention or appetite. Let fasting become more than denying food—let it become a declaration that you desire Christ above all else. God never ignores a hungry heart.
Prayer:
“Lord, increase my hunger for You above everything else.”
Serving Focus:
Fast and pray intentionally for someone who needs God’s strength today.
